its for the benefit of the passenger who have to plan their journey at last moments and  cannot secure reserve accommodation railway provides Tatkal  ticket booking facility on the payment of the premium charges on ' first come fist served, basis in railways.

list of the features for tatkal ticket bookings

1) the tatkal booking are allowed in all the classes except in first a/c

2) tatkal charges in addition to the normal fare per passenger.

3) the 10% of the basic fare for second class and 30% of basic fare for second class.

the 30% of basic fare for all other classes subject to the min and max as noted.

the tatkal tickets  can be booked one day in advance.

tatkal  e-ticket can be booked for selected tarins one day advance upto chart preparation, e-ticket can be booked on the opening day from 8;00 am onwards.

no concession is allowed in tatkal booking. its applies to sr. citizen

modification of ticket in any form is not permitted in tatkal tickets.

no refund will be granted to the cancellation of the confirmed tatkal tickets. for contingent cancellation and waitlisted tatkal ticket cancellations, charges will be deducted as per the rules. partial cancellation of the tatkal e-tickets is allowed but at least 1 passenger whose id card details is printed on the ers/ vrm ,the passenger on that e-ticket will be cancelled.

LUGGAGE RULES

If u planning to travel in indian trains with lot of luggages, then u should know these rules before travelling
in trains each passenger allowed a free allowance up to which he can carry the luggage with him in the compartment , at free of cost. free allowance varies for the different classes of the travelling.

children ages five and below 12 years are allowed half of the free allowance subject to the max of the 50kg.
you can also permitted a marginal allowance. there is also a max ceiling on luggage which u can carry it inside the compartment for each classes. below are the prices.

if the luggage marginally exceeds the free allowance, the person will  be charged at the normal luggage rates applicable to the class of travelling. u should make sure that your excess luggages has been booked at the luggage office, pay the fee for extra luggage then get the ticket endorsed by cross referencing the luggage ticket detail.

luggage is lost or damages

if the luggage is damaged or lost . the value of the luggage booked has not been declared by consignor and the prescribing percentage charge not paid liability the railways has been limited to rs 100 per kg.

REFUND RULES

if u have booked the train ticket ...if u want to cancel it .........then u will get the cancellation rules here.
u should follow these rules for cancelling the train tickets.
the new refund rules are come into force. 01/07/2013 . the new amendments are made in the refund rules  are to simplification, efficiency in processing and reduction of refund claim.

Existing Rules:

1) if a ticket on which reservation of seat not made is presented to the station master for cancelling and refunding of the fares on every such tickets after deducting the clerkages cost.

2) within 3 hrs after the train departure of train for which the ticket is issued.

3) for any ticket valid for the entire day. within 3 hrs, after the actual departure of the last train of day for the destination stations.

New Amended rules:

1) if ticket on which no reservation of a seat had made is presented for cancellation, refund will be made after deducting clearkag

2) ticket shall be presented for cancellation within  3 hrs of issue of tickets.

3) in case of tickets issued in advance ,,,,,,,ticket is presented upto 24. hrs.of the day preceeding the day of train journey.

E-Ticket Cancellation:

1) u can book and cancel the e tickets through and cancel the same and u got the account in your account after the deducting the charges applicable.

2)the refund of fare shall be not admissible on RAC e tickets in case the request for refund is filled after the 3hrs of the actual departure of the train.

3) in case of confirmed e-tickets, refunding

cacellation of tatkal tickets;

1) if u want to cancel tatkal tickets . u will not get refund of the fare once the ticket confirmed.

2) if u are on waiting list for tatkal ticket, the refund of the fare shall be granted in accordance with rule for the unused waitlists.

New Application For Refund of passenger reservation system:

if u want refund of the fare under other circumstances other than the mentioned in these rules, when passenger could not reached the reservation counter or station. the TDR shall be issued to the passenger and may apply for refund of fare within ten days instead existing 90 day from the day of commencement of journey to chief commercial manager refund of railway administration.
